Dr.lrene Hoffman chief Animal Genetic Resources , Animal Prodiction and Health Division FAO,Rome ได้ขอเข้าพบนายจีรวัชร์ เข็มสวัสดิ์ รองอธิบดีกรมปศุสัตว์ โดยมี ผู้เชี่ยวชาญยอดชาย ทองไทยนันท์ นายวิทวัส เวชชบุึษกร ผู้อำนวยการกองบำรุงพันธุ์สัตว์ และดร.วนิดา กำเนิดเพ็ชร์ กองบำรุงพันธุ์สัตว์ ร่วมให้การต้อนรับ โดยมีประเด็นที่หารือดังนี้ คือ

1. Interlaken Declaration on Animal Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

         เป์นการแสดงเจตจำนงร่วมกันของรัฐบาลที่จะดำเนินการให้เกิดการอนุรักษ์ การใช้ประโยชน์ทรัพยากรพันธุกรรมสัตว์ที่จะก่อให้เกิดการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน
2. Global Plan of Action on Animal Genetic Resorces for Food and Agriculture
         Adopted on 7th September, 2007 at international Technical Conference on Animal Genetic Resources . Interlaken, Switaerland
         เป็นมาตรการสำคัญที่จะทำให้เกิดการอนุรักษ์ การใช้ประโยชน์ทรัพยากรพันธุกรรมสัตว์ที่จะก่อให้เกิดการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน มีทั้งหมด 23 มาตรการ ภายใต้มิติที่สำคัญ

         ในภูมิภาคนี้ยังไม่มีการจัดตั้ง Regional Focal Point แต่ FAO มีแนวทางการจัดตั้งอยู่แล้ว
