Forage Arachis was introduced to Thailand from International Tropical Agriculture Center (CIAT) in 1987 by Katsuo Egara .  Thomas J.T.Yu introduced Arachis glabrata from U.S.A. and Arachis pintoi cv.Amarillo (CIAT 17434) was introduced from Australia by Mr.Chanchai Manidool. นำ Arachis pintoi cv.Amarillo, CPI12121 , Arachis glabrata CPI93469,CPI 93490 and Arachis virgatus were introduced from Australia in November 1989 by Dr.D.S.Loch.    Arachis pintoi CIAT18744, 17434, 18747 and 18750 were introduced from CIAT in 1990 by Dr.Werner StÜr . Arachis pintoi CPI12121 , CPI22160, Arachis glabrata CPI93483 and IRFL 3014 were introduced in the same year.  The first species evaluation was conducted at Khonkaen Animal Nutrition research center in 1992. 

Preliminary evaluation
The results from species evaluation on sandy soil showed that the highest forage production was obtained from Arachis pintoi and it can produced seed .   The studies conducted in clayloam soil to evaluated 11 forage Arachis viz. Arachis paraguariensis No.91419,  CQ1780,  Arachis pintoi CIAT18748, CIAT18750, CIAT18747, CIAT18744, cv.Amarillo, CIAT22160, Arachis glabrata IRFL 3014, cv.Prine(CPI 93483),and cv.Florigraze found that Arachis glabratacv.Prine,cv.Florigraze andIRFL 3014 gave dry matter yield of   12.7,  12.6 and  12.1 t/ha higher than Arachis pintoi and Arachis paraguariensis . Arachis glabratacv.Prine gave the highest crude protein content of 18 %      ์According to seed yield, Arachis pintoi CIAT18747, cv.Amarillo, CIAT18750, 18748 and 18744 gave pure seed yield of 2.4, 2.1, 1.9 and 1.8 t/ha, respectively. Arachis glabrata IRFL3014 did not producce seed.  Seed germination was between 42-93%
