REQUIREMENTS
FOR THE IMPORTATION OF
OSTRICH SKINS INTO THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND
1) A health certificate
in English signed by a full-time authorized veterinary official of the
government of the exporting country stating:-
1.1) type of portions and package of the ostrich skin,
1.2) number of pieces or packages and net weight,
1.3) names and addresses of the registered number of the manufacturing
establishment
and/or farms of origin,
1.4) names and addresses of the exporter and the consignee,
1.5) dates of slaughter, manufacturing, packaging and export,
1.6) certification of condition items (2) to (8).

The farm (s) or premises of origin have been free from Newcastle Disease,
Avian Influenza, Tuberculosis, Anthrax, Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever,
Aspergillosis, Equine encephalitis, Colibacillosis and Salmonellosis
i.e. Salmonella enteritidis and S. typhimurium are included, during
the past 12 (twelve) months preceding the slaughter of the ostriches
and until the time of export.

The ostriches are born and reared in the country of origin OR have been
in the country of origin for not less than 14 (fourteen) months prior
to slaughter and must come from the accredited farms where the veterinary
authorities of the governments of exporting and importing countries
have previously approved.

The ostriches have received ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection,
and found to be free from infectious and contagious diseases.
5) The ostrich skins have been processed in a designated establishment
approved for export to Thailand, in sanitary manner under the constant
veterinary supervision of which appointed by the government of the exporting
country.
6) The ostrich skins are in hygienic conditions. Every precaution has
been taken to prevent any contamination during manufacturing, packaging
and until the time of export. Disinfection and disinsectisation of the
products prior to export shall be carried out as recommended in the
OIE International Animal Health Code.
7) The ostrich skins shall not be transhipped at any intermediate port.
8) The ostrich skins are subjected to inspection/detention for laboratory
testing upon arrival in Thailand.The owner/importer shall be fully charged
for incurred expenses.
9) Failure to follow the import procedures may result in returning the
ostrich skins to the country of origin or destroying without compensation.
